The Network of Cultural Centers of Color (NCCC) is the only surviving arts service organization
serving cultural centers of color in the United States. We walk into our third year of
collaboration with the Folk Alliance with continued dedication to our mission -to nurture,
support, and promote collaborations between our members to bridge barriers of cultural and
geographic isolation - and the knowledge that both organizations are committed to similar goals
within the arts community and towards the general public.
Founded in 1989 by a group of arts experts from diverse regions, races, and cultures, the NCCC
brings together a wealth of information and experience in community-based cultural programs. It
has developed a national alliance of organizations whose programming embraces cultural pluralism,
assures authenticity, and respects the traditional aesthetic of cultures of color. It has
accomplished this through fostering cross-cultural expressions and introducing broader audiences
to culturally diverse resources and programming.
The NCCC's comprehensive range of programs includes community outreach (including artists'
one-week residencies), touring, a speaker's bureau, a newsletter, conferences and events. The
NCCC continues to expand and interweave, providing an increasingly strong center from which to
coordinate and nurture - on local, national, and international levels - a culturally grounded
arts community. Our successes can be credited to the tenacity of our membership, and the
diligence of the board and staff leadership.
As in Jacksonville and Nashville, we look forward to sharing the mutual concerns of our arts
organizations through panels, showcases, and the general good will. Here's to sharing ideas,
building new bridges, and strengthening old friendships in the arts.
