Nominations for Board Candidates

Interested in running for the FAI Board of Directors?

We are nearing the start of the FAI Board of Directors election season. Per our bylaws, the Nominating Committee is now looking for candidates interested in filling upcoming vacancies on the Board. 

If you are interested in running for one of the open seats, click the button below, complete the form, and the nominations committee will reach out to you.

While you may express interest and be considered for the ballot as a non-member, to serve on the board you must be a voting member in good standing for the duration of the three-year term.

Deadline to submit is August 1st.

Please keep in mind that all Directors are elected “at large” and do not represent any specific constituency.

  1. Member ID# - (Not required for non-members)
  2. A photo 
  3. A 100-word bio in the third person
  4. A 50-word ballot statement in the first person

Additional deadlines:

October 15

The Nominating Committee will announce a slate of candidates - it will be distributed by email to members and posted on the FAI website. The Nominating Committee is tasked with putting together a slate that corresponds to a needed mix of skills, experiences and diversity. Therefore, not every person who expresses interest in running for a seat on the Board may be placed on the slate.

November 1

There is a self-nomination procedure for members still interested in running or who missed earlier deadlines. To be placed on the “final” slate, they must receive the support of at least ten members in good standing. This support can come in the form of an email or letter sent to the FAI office. These nominations must be received by November 1. These candidates must also submit the same biographical info and platform statement to the Nominating Committee.

November 8

Information about each person on the final slate (Nominating Committee selected + candidates by petition) will be placed on the Folk Alliance International website. The official ballot will be distributed to all voting members of Folk Alliance International electronically on this date, and also sent out by another carrier to members who have made prior requests. Notice of any proposal to alter, amend, or repeal our Bylaws must also be provided by this time and by the same means.

December 8

Only votes cast by 11:59 PM Central Time on this date will be counted. Write-ins are permitted. Each voting member may vote for no more than the number of (“n”) Directorships open, typically five (5), times the number of votes that voter receives. All votes are checked for eligibility. The top “n” vote-getters are elected Directors.
