FIRST TIMER SCHOLARSHIPS
SUPPORT A FIRST-TIMER
FAI gave out 100 scholarships to first-time artist attendees and 26 to first-time industry attendees for a total of $35,905 this year. Please help us to support the Elaine Weissman Scholarship for First Conference Attendees Fund.
Named after our visionary founding member, this scholarship fund supports many artists and industry professionals coming for the first time and helps our organization offset the cost of scholarships granted. Donations can be made on a one-time or monthly basis.

STAFF AND BOARD RETREATS
Staff Storytelling Retreat:
Unpacking 30 Years of FAI
In April, our staff took a day to look back. It was important for our staff to explore FAI's first 30 years in order to effectively share the FAI story and build together towards the next chapter. In advance of the day-long retreat, each staff member was asked to review a 5-year span of time in the organization's history by digging into program books, board minutes, and archival materials. Through a process of reporting back and sharing personal highlights, we constructed a timeline that will inform the pieces of our past that we will be sharing with you over the coming months.
Stay tuned as we journey together towards FAI's 30th conference!
Regional Leaders Retreat
The third annual Regional Leader’s Retreat was held this spring in Baltimore, MD. In attendance were the Board Presidents of each Region (or their designate), core FAI staff, Regions Committee Chair, and Board Chair. The group was joined by Senator Cheryl Kagan for dinner, a local tour, and a showcase of area artists.
The retreat provided the group an opportunity to discuss regional activities, challenges and opportunities, roles and terms of service, and ways the FAI staff and Board may support regional needs.

Executive Director's Summit

Last month, FAI organized an Executive Directors' summit of four major international music conference organizations (Folk Alliance International, International Bluegrass Music Association, Blues Foundation, and Americana Music Association). The day-long event was held at the Dyer Observatory just south of Nashville and provided the EDs an opportunity to learn more about each organization, to discuss the challenges and opportunities of the role, and to foster a collaborative approach to the future. The group now plans to meet annually.
