Where, When, & What?
FAI is one of the few music industry conferences that offers everyone in attendance the opportunity to present independent showcases and allows all artists to play self-presented sets for all attending industry representatives. These showcases are not open to the public.
Private Showcases take place on the 5th, 6th and 7th floors of the Westin Hotel in actual hotel rooms and suites. Each individual room is contracted out to a private showcase host (examples: labels, organizations, agents, artists etc.) who in turn book and schedule performances of registered conference attendees.
Private Showcases are acoustic (no amplification or sound systems in standard rooms, limited sound in the Suites and premium rooms) and run from 15-30 minutes depending on the presenter. Some presenters charge a nominal fee to help underwrite the costs of the room and hospitality. Average fees run between $20-$30 per slot. Many do not charge and some trade slots for performance slots in other rooms.
Private Showcase Hosts
Are you interested in hosting a room?
You will need to complete an application and submit a registration fee of $125/room to sign up to host a room (there is an additional $25/room fee if you choose to have day time performances). This fee is not the hotel room fee. Presenters are required to host Private Showcase rooms for a minimum of three nights. The 2016 Westin hotel room cost is $141/night plus taxes. Room numbers will be assigned in December 2015.
FAI produces a full directory of all Private Showcases that is distributed to all registrants at the conference. Sales opportunities exist to promote Private Showcases throughout the conference.
