Folk Alliance News
The Folk Alliance maintains an announcements list serve for its exclusive use to communicate to members. This list is a post-only mailing list maintained in the Folk Alliance office. The Folk Alliance News List is for news or announcements from the Folk Alliance office only. This list will not be sold or traded.
If you do not wish to receive occasional news items from the Folk Alliance office, please write to fa@folk.org and request that your address be removed from the Folk Alliance News List.

The Folk Alliance discussion list is primarily for the discussion of Folk Alliance business, including activities, conferences, showcases within conferences, feedback to the Board of Directors, and other items of interest to members. We hope you will use it to connect with other members, discuss common interests and activities, and to share information with each other.
It is secondarily for discussion of the music business. Yes, there are other specific lists for DJs, folk venues and folk biz, but when something comes up here, please feel free to continue the discussion.
This list is NOT a place to post gig announcements, CD release announcements, radio show set lists, concert series announcements or other kinds of promotional messages. There are more appropriate places for those kinds of messages, and such messages will be returned to the sender.
This is a moderated list. All messages first go to the list serve manager (fa@folk.org) before being forwarded to the list. We will not edit any message for content, and all messages appropriate for this list will be posted as they are sent, except in the case where we judge that a message contains personal digs or attacks. We believe that discussion is about ideas and opinions, not about attacking someone else for the opinion they may hold. We will send such messages back to the sender with message saying why it is returned. We will also send back messages that appear to us to be intended to be a private (not a public) reply, and ask for clarification.

This is our newest list, and resulted from the Traditional Music Peer Group at the Jacksonville
Conference (February 2002). This is a list for the discussion of traditional music. It is not a
moderated list, and is open to everyone. It is intended for discussion, although some promotional
announcements of general interest are welcome. Repeated postings of inappropriate material,
particularly if others on the list have requested a halt, will result in the poster being denied
access to the list.
