Board of Directors' Call for Nominations
Current and Emeritus Board Members at FAI 2018
As announced on July 1st, and pursuant to Folk Alliance International's bylaws, the Nominating Committee is now looking for candidates interested in filling upcoming vacancies on the Board.
If you are interested in running for one of the open seats, click the button below, complete the form, and the Nominating Committee will reach out to you.
The Nominating Committee is tasked with putting together a slate that corresponds to a needed mix of skills, experiences, regions, and diversity. Therefore, not every person who expresses interest in running for a seat on the Board may be placed on the slate.
While you may express interest and be considered for the ballot as a non-member, to serve on the board you must be a voting member in good standing for the duration of the three-year term. Directors are elected “at large” and do not represent any specific organization or constituency.
For details of what is expected of Directors who join the FAI Board, see this document.

*Deadline to submit is August 1st.
Community Events
As part of an increased effort to connect with our members and extended community, FAI Board and staff have been holding community receptions and info sessions outside of our ongoing presence at industry events in North America and internationally. These have included gatherings in Malibu, Raleigh, Baltimore, and London, England.

Most recently, board members Alka Sharma, Executive Director of Folk Music Ontario, and Ellen Stanley, Executive Director of the Minnesota Music Coalition, held receptions for key stakeholders in their respective cities. Each event was a great success, allowed our area-members to gather, and enabled our Executive Director, Aengus Finnan, to make valuable connections, screen our video reel, and make announcements.

Small Venue Survey
Following the success of the PRO House Concert Agreement negotiated by FAI in 2009, our Board's Advocacy Committee has assembled a negotiating team to approach the U.S. Performing Rights Organizations (PROs) to discuss licensing fees and arrangements on behalf of small venues presenting live music.

To facilitate this process, we have created a short survey for small U.S. venues and concert series presenters (defined as those with available seating of 200 or less, not including house concerts). The information collected will be kept strictly confidential, will be used as aggregate data by the committee in their negotiations, and will not be used for any other purpose.
Please share this with your networks of small venues in the U.S.; more responses create a more accurate and comprehensive representation of small venue needs.
