Our free Finest Folk First Fridays concerts continue in October with the blues inflections Memphis-based artist, Yella P! Having played at multiple Folk Alliance conferences, we are so excited to have Yella P performing exclusively at our office. A true bluesman, Yella P has his heart and soul in the Memphis music scene while gaining international acclaim. We are thrilled to host his sound here in Kansas City again!

Who is Yella P?
Damion “Yella P” Pearson is an internationally celebrated artist and multi-instrumentalist from Memphis, TN. He got his start playing alongside blues legend “Big Jerry” Parnell on the world famous Beale Street. Since then, he has evolved into one of the premier talents in black roots music. On any given day, he might be seen playing traditional gospel in a baptist church or raunchy southern soul in a Mississippi juke joint. Yella P also performs as one half of the critically acclaimed blues duo, Memphissippi Sounds. He's shared the stage with esteemed musicians such as Eric Gales, The Bar-Kays, Larry Dodson, Kirk Whalum, Eddie Floyd, Anthony Hamilton, and the multi-platinum rock band LĪVE. He also made a cameo appearance on WWE Smackdown accompanying Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson on an original song. And as one of the few authentic bluesmen in his generation, Yella has played alongside greats such as Robert Finley, Kenny Brown, Theodis Ealey, and as the opening act for Bobby Rush.
