As 2025 draws to a close, we at Folk Alliance International are feeling reflective about the joy, community, and accomplishments of last fiscal year.

As we look back, a few things stand out:

  • An 11th hour conference hotel change due to the worker’s strike in Montréal.
  • The loss of a significant NEA grant, thanks to the political turmoil in the US.
  • Broad community support and anonymous donations to cover the shortfall.
  • The overall warmth, strength, and resilience of our Folk community.

FAI’s fiscal year ran from July 1st, 2024 - June 31, 2025.

We were overjoyed to return to Canada for the 2025 conference!

The conference was a major success and a reminder of the depth and breadth of folk music in 2025, with over 180 Official Showcases, and over 2500 Private Showcases, plus a packed schedule of professional opportunities and networking.

We gathered in person more than ever outside of the yearly conference, including five well-attended regional conferences and a variety of local community events.

In June 2025, all five North American regional affiliates and Folk Alliance International signed a new regional affiliate agreement, which is a significant milestone in our shared journey.

We amped up our online activities this year, too, with the virtual FOLK+ conference organized in collaboration with each of the Folk Alliance regions.

We continue to develop ways of creating year-long community experiences online to gather together with our folk community despite the distance.

As we look ahead, we remain deeply committed to keeping FAI a vibrant, inclusive, and collaborative home for folk music.

Everything we achieved last fiscal year was made possible by your support, and we are profoundly grateful for the care, creativity, and dedication you bring to this community.

Thank you for walking this path with us. Together, we will continue to honor and elevate fork music and its enduring power to connect and inspire.
